A Heatmap refers to a two-dimensional visual data representation technique that uses a continuous color spectrum to convey the magnitude, frequency, or density of specific user behaviors across a digital canvas or physical medium. By translating complex data sets such as visual fixations, cursor movement, or tap frequency into intuitive color gradients, heatmaps allow researchers and marketers to instantly evaluate patterns of visual attention, cognitive focus, and user interaction.
Key components of a heatmap include:
